A group of scientists, rejected as misfits by the mainstream scientific community, work toward the dream that has eluded prestigious pharmaceutical companies and universities – a cure for the common cold. Led by Jon DeLeon, an epidemiologist with crippling emotional impairments, the small group of dedicated workers ache their way to their final solution. Unbeknownst to them, their progress is carefully scrutinized by third parties who have their own designs on the CiliCold project and deliberately hatch their plans.

Major Characters

Jon DeLeon : Leader of the CiliCold projects. An award winning epidemiologist, he left his university under a cloud of impropriety several years before. Jon’s ideas fuel the progress of his team members, but this productivity is constricted by his persistent insecurity and needs for emotional connections. As one relationship fails after the another, he is reduced to crippling helplessness at a pivotal moment when his boldest idea is put to the test.

Cassie Rhodes: Lead attorney for SSS Pharmaceuticals, known for their rapacious policies that maximize returns for shareholders. Haunted by a shocking event, she allows life to shrink to managing her demanding case load. When she learns of CiliCold, she develops a idea that will transform SSS and catapult her to a position of leadership in the company.

Breanna Vaughn: An accomplished accountant, who becomes the new accountant of CiliCold. Attractive, intelligent, and inquisitive, she is the object of adulation by Jon. As her home situation deteriorates, she is open to the attention of the bright but emotionally crippled scientist. Abused by her husband, she escapes with her babies to safety, but is faced with the decision of helping SSS take over CiliCold in order to remain safe and secure..
